MeterSwap's originator, Dan Block, began developing mobile and database software for the utility industry in 1982.
At that time, computers had not yet become mainstream and the utility industry was still gathering
data with a pencil and paper. Dan saw an opportunity to
automate the utility industry, and his company Computapole was born.
Computapole began by developing applications in California for the inspection and ground line treatment of wood utility poles.
The success of these applications caused Southern California Gas & Electric to mandate the use of this technology for
all of their ground line contractors. Utility companies across the country were being introduced to Computapole's Test & Treat software and
there was a rapid demand to expand the software programs to other utility maintenance applications.
It wasn't long until Computapole was setting the standard for customized field automation in the utility industry.
In 1999, Dan merged Computapole with Quanta Services and became Director of Software Operations. In 2016, Dan left Quanta Services to restart his own company. Dan and his group of highly qualified programmers have over 30 years of experience in this industry.
